Ladyface Ale Companie

A recent pub crawl to Southern California delivered us to Ladyface Ale Companie in Agoura Hills just SE of Thousand Oaks. Ladyface claims to be the Conejo Valley’s first brewery. It is warm and inviting, casual brewpub. They feature award-winning, hand-crafted ales, including innovative seasonals, cask conditioned ale and barrel-aged releases.
Ladyface Mountain, one of Agoura Hills’ defining geographic features, climbs for 2,031 feet above sea level and can be seen from miles away. Legend has it that the indigenous Chumash Indians sat high atop the peak of the mountain to keep a lookout on the entire valley, and that they named the mountain “Ladyface” because of the topography of its ridge, which appears to be a lady looking into the skies while awaiting the return of her lover. In the early 1900’s, the mountain’s base became a stop for travelers along the Camino Real, offering water from natural springs. Today, the mountain provides a beautiful backdrop for the Ladyface patio, and is a popular hiking trail for all to enjoy.
Biggest Surprise:
Quality Food! Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie features its ales in many recipes with a menu based on traditional French and Belgian country dishes, seasonally inspired by local harvests. Locally sourced food is a growing trend.
Most Memorable Beer:
Coolest Feature:
Art with a purpose. This may be an architectural feature only a beer guy can appreciate, but the Hop Gate arch that encloses the Ladyface kegs is beautiful. This is truly a unique piece of metal work art!
I truly enjoyed everything about Ladyface Ale Companie: the beer, the ambiance, the unique art and the food. Was it worth the side trip you ask? Well, let me quote The Terminator, “I’ll be back!”
