Hangar 24 Orange Wheat
Redlands, CA is home to Hangar 24 Craft Brewery. A great venue and a cool vibe. The brewery is located at the Redlands Airport inside a converted hangar…hangar 24. They have 20+ beers on tap. A huge outside beer garden to enjoy your flight alfresco.
Hangar 24 is best known for their Orange Wheat. 100% locally grown oranges are used throughout the entire brewing process. To further support local growers Hangar 24 brews a Local Fields Series of beers that include California grown fruit and vegetables. Here are a few examples: Vinaceous-red wine grapes from Temecula, Polycot-apricots from Southern California’s High Desert and Gourdgeous-California pumpkins.
Appearance:
It pours a slightly cloudy yellow-orange color with a tall long-lasting white head.
Aroma:
First appearance is a wheaty maltiness that is soon followed by a light citrus note and then a warm spiciness.
Flavor:
First sip delivers a sweet wheat maltiness that is immediately followed up by citrus notes and finally a slight hop bitterness. As the beer warms up I get a hint of clove flavor.
Finish:
This Orange Wheat has a very well-balanced, lingering hop bitterness that also moves to a tart citrus tingle on your tongue for a cool, complex dryness.
At 4.6% abv and an only slightly bitter 17 IBUs, Orange Wheat is a refreshing wheat beer that is perfect for a summer session ale, or NOW! This wheat and citrus beer will pair well with sushi (not too much wasabi) or a nice fresh green salad with tangerine slices.
Cheers!
