Reinaert Wild Ale
I say this is a little tame for a self professed “Wild” ale. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really good.
Reinaert Wild Ale is a bottle conditioned Belgian strong ale. It pours a beautiful gold orange, slightly cloudy with a huge, long lasting, rocky head. The brettanomyces is very evident in the aroma. It does offer a distinctive horse blanket nose, but it is not at all offensive. I also get hops, spice and a caramel sweetness. The flavor has complex changes from sweet malty to tart with a hop bitterness at the end. It all wraps up with a very nice, dry, warming finish that is very enjoyable.
A big beer at 9% abv and lots of bittering hops. The bottle states, “Triple fermented using two yeast strains-saccharomyces and brettanomyces. This sample is a 750ml bottle with cork and cage.
Excellent!
